I’ve been working with Rannia to design a cover for my book, “Neither Fear Ye Their Fear,” which is scheduled to be published on September 1. Part of the process was giving her book covers that I liked the layout of / feel of. Two of the covers I gave her were Was She Pretty by Leanne Shapton and The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead.

She took the layout and feel of those books and came up with this combination, which I really love as a start for the direction we’re going to head. It reminds me of that popular quote from Picasso, “Good artists copy. Great artists steal.” I’ve always really believed that.

There’s going to be some small changes to the cover page. But, this is, basically, the direction we’re headed. I really like it.
