contract with map illustrator

Today I finalized a contract for some maps for the historical fiction book I’m publishing this September. Shooting for September 1. I’m really excited about the maps. I’ve always wanted a nice, good map of the Middle East that I could call my own. I found the mapmaker through reedsy, just like the book cover illustrator.

The guy I chose, Nat, was a lot like the cover artist, Rannia, in that he got back to me very quickly, and came with a lot of ideas and suggestions, and improvements actually, to my original RFP. He came out collaborating and transparent before a contract was even signed. It was awesome.

Both the maps and the cover art are scheduled to be finished on June 19th. Juneteenth.

Also, yesterday, was my last day of the LDSPMA Master Class with Heather B. Moore. It was a really helpful class. I’m glad I got the opportunity to be in it. I don’t think I would be self-publishing my book this September if I hadn’t gone to that class.
