Today I made signed a contract with a cover artist — Rannia Makrigianni. Here’s her website. I got connected with her through reedsy which is a marketplace / portal for people looking to self-publish books. She did this book cover, and I liked the style.

I also really liked what she said to me when she sent me an offer to my initial request. It sounded like it was written by AI. But, I liked the content. She said her approach for the cover will focus on:

  1. Strong Typographic Identity: Using bold, deliberate typography as a central design element to give the cover authority and scale.
  2. Minimalist Symbolism: Incorporating abstract motifs or silhouettes inspired by ancient Assyrian forms, stripped down to their most powerful graphic essence.
  3. Distressed Textures: Using subtle, tactile textures (ink-bleed, paper grain, or distressed print effects) to provide depth without compromising the modern, flat design.

The cover should be done on July 20th. She’s also going to do flourishes for me — which are, like, decorative lines for page breaks, chapter headings, and things like that.

The cover should be done on July 20th. At which point I should be able to upload the book to Amazon for pre-orders. This will open up a lot of other opportunities for me, to do things I have to do. Start an Amazon author page. Connect my goodreads account to an author page.
